Synopses & Reviews
The Journals of Lewis and Clark are well-known. In 1803 President Jefferson sent them west, traveling overland on the Missouri and Columbia Rivers to the Pacific and back. Unfortunately, the journals in their original form are nearly unintelligible to most of us. This edition focuses on the narratives, straightening out the chronology, standardizing the grammar and spelling, bringing out the real story while perfectly retaining the flavor of the original. Carefully edited, with footnotes, glossary, and index.
