Terrorism looms in the national consciousness. Angela McCulskin, an accountant, is on her way to a conference in New York. Level, at cruise altitude over Arizona, a bomb blows up on her plane and Angela literally awakens in mid-air. Steve Burnett, a work-worn accident investigator is assigned to the case and flies from Atlanta to Arizona to begin his investigation. He begins to have dreams far different than he's had before, dreams about a passenger---a woman---but he always awakens before he can make sense of the dream. Over time he and his team begin piecing together the facts as they work with the wreckage from the airliner. Lives are transformed in a triumph of survival over physical and mental adversity, and a nagging question about dreamstates and their power to influence and guide.
