Synopsis
This satirical novel portrays Babbitt as an opportunistic, materialistic, self-important and unimaginative middle-aged realtor and general go-getter in Zenith, the Zip City. His brief romantic spree and attempt at liberalism are curbed by fear of criticism and cause him to conform to the wills of fellow citizens and club members.
