Synopses & Reviews
Since its original publication by Penguin in England in 1980,
Babies Need Books has been an indispensable resource for steering children through the wide and wonderful sea of books around them. Now, this revised and updated edition comes to the United States with a new preface by the author, an extensive appendix of American titles, and Butler's 475 original book descriptions.
Each chapter is devoted to an age range and includes a summary of each book, comments about the illustrations, a note on how to use the book to deal with sensitive issues (such as divorce), and title/author/publisher information.
