Synopses & Reviews
Famous for its horse fair and market, Barnet is also known for its hilly, rural landscape, the Northern Heights, which gave it some protection from intense population growth until the advance of new transport systems in the nineteenth century. However, Barnets proximity to Greater London had its attractions, and the population soon expanded to the bustling London borough it is today. In Barnet Then & Now, archive manager Yasmine Webb takes us on a nostalgic journey through Barnets past, comparing rare archive photographs with modern photographs of the same places today. Accompanied by detailed captions, this book is a must read for anyone interested in the history of this fascinating borough.
