Ellie Miller has always needed her space. Literally. With a touch that rots whatever she encounters, Ellie must keep people at a distance for their own good. Not that her classmates are itching to be best friends with the "freak" of the high school.
So when newcomer Nate MacPherson makes it his mission to get close to her, Ellie has her suspicions. But when he identifies her as a viviomancer who can work the forces of life and reveals himself to be a necromancer who can manipulate death, Ellie finds herself trusting Nate and the romance that is blossoming between them. Unfortunately for the two, family secrets can kill, and they will need more than their abilities to keep a zombie mom and a conglomerate of evil-doing supernaturals under control.
After spending her life pushing everyone away, Ellie's realization of the full extent of her power and willingness to let people get close to her may be the only way to save the ones she loves.

An intriguing story with elements of both paranormal and horror . . . Ellie is a strong character who has to overcome feelings of self-revulsion if she every hopes to make a connection with others. While her situation is unique, many teens will certainly be able to identify with her struggle to find the beauty in herself and her abilities. Will there be a sequel? I certainly hope so.”

San Francisco/Sacramento Book Review
This book was completely unpredictable, which sets it apart and above most books I have read recently. The author does a stellar job creating scenarios readers can relate too and characters with strong convictions. Ellie could use her gift to do really bad things, but even when looking death in the eyes she chooses the higher road. This book is a quick read and one I think anyone who enjoys fantasy will really like. I only wish it had been longer, and I hope there is a sequel on the horizon.”

A hard book to put down. The story line is action packed with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing . . . This book will capture your interest and imagination. Totally different from all the paranormal books that has preceded it.”

This book does a good job of showing how teens can be hurt by the callous, mean-spirited actions of others . . . I really enjoyed a different type of story that definitely made me think.”
