Ralph Helfer spent many years in Hollywood as an animal behaviorist, and worked with some of the biggest stars—as well as some of the smallest—on two legs and four. The animals he trained and cared for appeared in a wide range of TV shows and movies, from The Ten Commandments
to Charlie's Angels
, and costarred with some of film's most beloved human luminaries, including Clint Eastwood, Elvis Presley, and Marilyn Monroe.
The Beauty of the Beasts is Ralph Helfer's unforgettable behind-the-scenes chronicle of his career helping wonderful animals along on their road to cinematic stardom. But more than a delightfully anecdotal account of the feral and the famous, it is also a moving and insightful celebration of the essential roles animals play in our lives and a heartfelt appreciation of how much less human we would all be without them.
