If you are looking for a piece of historical information on Beowulf and Grendel, seek out another book. This book is based largely on literary analysis and minimally on actually historical documentation. I would suggest this book as a pleasure read, looking at the fantastical notion of a race of men like Grendel roaming the early Anglo-Saxon world. Good book for what it is, but it is definitely not history.
