About the Author
Marilena Chauí is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Sao Paulo. Since the 1980s, Chauís writings have had a profound impact in her own country, achieving both academic recognition and unprecedented popular success. Chauís far-reaching work has been formative for a new generation of Brazilian intellectuals and has intersected with and led to innovative research regarding relations between culture, politics and the state across the humanities and social sciences.
