Synopses & Reviews
A cold snap has blown into town like an unwanted house pest. But theres only one guy in the bug city with the power to put crime permanently on ice: Joey Fly, Private Eye. Hes always on the lookout for trouble, and he runs into it when he meets Harry Spyderson, proprietor of the Scarab Beetle Theatre and director of the much-anticipated Bugliacci.
Greta Divawing, the four-winged, long-legged leading lady, has gone missing. Harry hires Joey Fly and his assistant, Sammy Stingtail to crack the case. Can they find Greta in time to save the show?
"Reynolds and Numberman have teamed up once again for a bug's-eye view of detective Joey Fly and his lovable sidekick, Sammy Stingtail, in a sequel that will delight fans of the duo's popular first adventure, Creepy Crawly Crime. This time, Greta Divawing, a painted lady butterfly and star of Harry Spyderson's upcoming stage production of Bugliacci, has gone missing, less than a week before the show opens. Spyderson hires Joey Fly to take the case, and both he and Sammy must wade through a cast of arthropods to figure out who or rather whatdunnit. Some readers may be bugged by Joey's penchant for puns or protracted narrative voice-overs. However, they will have no objection to the overall hijinks. Numberman's stripped-down art combines just the right amount of grotesquerie with lively storytelling to propel the story along. Ages 9 12. (Nov.)" Publishers Weekly (Copyright PWyxz LLC)
Have you ever had one of those moments? You know--you're trying to find a stolen diamond pencil box for your beautiful butterfly customer, your mosquito witness won't give you any information, and your clumsy scorpion assistant has just tampered with your only bit of evidence?
Joey Fly has those moments a lot. In fact, he's probably having one right now. But that won't stop him from solving the mystery in Creepy Crawly Crime, his fantastic first graphic novel
