Synopsis
Brigham Young died 130 years ago and is still numbered among the pantheon of legendary personalities of the American West--a dynamic religious leader and hearty pioneer who led a vast pilgrimage to the Great Basin in 1847. As a colonizer, he displayed memorable leadership and business ability and was responsible for the development of the mountain and desert territory stretching northward to Canada and south into the heart of Mexico. But he haled from upstate New York, where he was raised, married, and started his career as a carpenter during the years that form the basis for this study.
