Synopsis
The bullet which entered the back of Jamie Fergusonas head launched a web of intrigue, kidnapping and murder when Britons Pride, Englandas most celebrated thoroughbred, was kidnapped from Abbey Lane Farm, Lancashire. Britons Pride is concealed on a breeding farm in the South of Ireland while a ransom was being negotiated. World War II hero Group Captain Cherrington-Smythe offers two fifty-thousand-pound rewards for the arrest of the murderer and kidnappers of his horse. Inspector Billy Bryson was not pleased. Chief Inspector Gordon Williams is a retired New Scotland Yard detective. Providence of Essex bring him in to make private inquiries. If Britons Pride is not found alive they will be facing a seven-figure insurance claim. Williamsa inquiries lead him and his sergeant to the South of Ireland.
