Synopsis
Bruce Lee Jeet Kune Do is the iconic book presenting the martial art created by Bruce Lee as explained in the master's own words. In 1970, Bruce Lee suffered a serious back injury which confined him to bed for six months. Rather than allowing this to slow his growth as a martial artist, he feverishly read books on Eastern philosophy and Western psychology, constructing his own views on the totality of the martial way and the meaning of combat. It was during this time that Lee wrote down the ideas and opinions on the art of unarmed combat, and how they apply to everyday life, that form the core of this book.
This landmark volume is the only complete presentation of Bruce Lee's writings on the martial art style he called Jeet Kune Do. Lee was a revolutionary in his day and Jeet Kune Do is the principal reason why Bruce Lee is revered as a pioneer by martial artists today, decades after his death. The development of this unique martial form--its principles, techniques and philosophy--are presented here in Bruce Lee's own words, drawings and photos. This book is the only complete and official version of Jeet Kune Do published in cooperation with the Lee family estate. It is the most comprehensive presentation of his writings available.
This book features Lee's sketches and his remarkable commentaries on the nature of combat and achieving success through the martial arts, as well as the importance of a positive mental attitude. In it, Lee poses a series of "Questions Every Martial Artist Must Ask Himself" that he intended to explore later as part of his development, but never lived to complete.
Bruce Lee Jeet Kune Do is a book every martial artist and Bruce Lee fan must have in their collection.
