"Without Karl Rove, there would be no President George W. Bush. Rove is co-president of the United States."
From the Introduction
Behind every successful politician lies a group of fiercely loyal individuals who help make the dream of holding public office become a reality. In President George W. Bushs case, one person has always stood above the rest. His name is Karl Rove. Dubbed "the man with the plan" by the President himself, White House Senior Advisor Karl Rove helped develop the political career of George W. Bush and continues to be a guiding force within the current Bush White House. But who is Karl Rove and how did he acquire such power and influence?
Bushs Brain: How Karl Rove Made George W. Bush Presidential is the first in-depth examination of Roves remarkable political journey, as well as a straightforward narrative of the key role he has played in George W. Bushs rise to the top. Equal parts biography and history of late twentieth-century politics, this fascinating book pieces together the puzzle of Roves extraordinary political life through personal interviews with Rove himself as well as revealing stories from friends and foes alike. Veteran political journalists James Moore and Wayne Slater take you on a fast-paced ride that uncovers both the masterful skills and secret machinations of the Presidents chief political strategist. Youll gain the inside story on how Rove:
- Destroyed the careers of people who opposed his ideas and his candidates
- Planned "secret" classes to teach George W. Bush how government works
- Ran brutal yet brilliant campaigns that eventually swept Bush into the White House
- Impacted the midterm elections of 2002
- Exerts his influence in virtually every presidential decisionwhether it involves steel import tariffs or extending the war on terrorism
Karl Rove is both feared and admired by Republicans and Democrats alike. In the fullness of his accomplishments, Rove has raised a new and disturbing question for American voters and their republic: Who really runs this country? In Bushs Brain: How Karl Rove Made George W. Bush Presidential, youll enter a world of power and politics where few dare to ventureand leave with a better understanding of how much power Karl Rove really has.
Review
"The second, and more substantial, of the recent books about Bush's longtime political partner, Karl Rove." Austin American Statesman
Review
"Love him or hate him, Karl Rove is one of the most brilliant and successful political consultants of all time. In this riveting account, Wayne Slater and Jim Moore tell how he got there." Paul Begala, CNN's Crossfire
Review
"Bush's Brain isn't a hatchet job on George W. Bush. In fact, the two authors largely dispel the myth of Bush's supposedly deficient IQ. But, more importantly, they lay bare the story of how Karl Rove may be the most powerful man in America. It's a compelling story told by two veteran Texas journalists who don't need a briefing packet to understand the men they're writing about."

Synopsis
Many Washington insiders believe that the strength of the Bush machine lies not in its leader but in Karl Rove, the man who picked Bush to run for Governor of Texas, tutored him on the workings of government, and ran brilliant yet brutal campaigns that would eventually sweep Bush into the Presidency.
In Bush's Brain readers will enter the powerful world of White House Senior Advisor Karl Rove and learn how this man created George W. Bush and continues to keep him on top. Political journalists James Moore and Wayne Slater offer a rare glimpse into the man who has become the single most important advisor to George W. Bush and the person who many think is calling the shots at the White House. They also discuss how Rove's strategic decisions seem to be determining U.S. policy for the Bush administration, including the now fatal decision to back away from Mideast negotiations. This intriguing book also features previously unreported information on the Bush campaign from the primaries and the conventions to the fall general election and the complex relationship Rove and Bush currently share.
Karl Rove is both feared and admired by Republicans and Democrats alike. His take no prisoners approach to politics has received mixed reviews and left everyone wondering who's really running this country? In Bush's Brain readers will learn who the real Karl Rove is and just how much power he really has.
