With reference to the name China jim - after my return from China, in 1861, I found myself constantly addressed and spoken of by this sobriquet; possibly because I got more valuable loot from the Summer Palace than any other man in the force. Moreover, the amount that I did get was very much exaggerated, so that I was erroneously supposed by many of my friends to have.
