"Few of Sarah Moon's photographs are in focus, nor does she want them to be. A fashion and commercial photographer since the 1960s, she is known for the mysterious images she produces. Some are, at first glance, almost abstract and unrecognizable. Others, like a closeup of a long-beaked bird, seem to be on the edge of reality, but seen in an idiosyncratic, impressionistic way. Viewed en masse in this collection, Moon's work seems repetitive and limited. The 'coincidences' she calls her photographs seem more like a self-indulgent projection of her own unconscious, rather than images that speak to viewers."
