One of the very best items I saw in this novel is that Jonathan Kellerman has murders happening that are not repeated in the same manner and that he and his gay buddy from the L.A.P.D., Milo Sturgis, really have a go of it in trying to piece this fantastic psychological idiocy together, as his M.O. seems to change and he doesn't keep chasing the same types, which is a great indicator as to the personality of a murderer that has started his career, but, garrots one person, sheives another, and the twists and turns just keep coming at you chapter by chapter. It just seems that you cannt put the "tail on the donkey" in this story so easily, it is one of Kellermans trickiest turnover novels I have ever read, as you are looking one way then another...and the very good thing about this theme is that it keeps this up and you think that you have answered who the Mental-Murderer is throughout, but, your mind has changed a hundred times already, and you have two pages left in your fingers and you are still in a muddle! This is great writing at it's best and I have already acquired three new books for friends as gifts to those that seem to always have the answer. Let them have a crack at "A COLD HEART" and call once in a while to say "hello" and there will be silence more times than not! A TOP SHELF piece of writing, Mr. Kellerman! TOPS! You'll never top this one! (IMHO) Rick the reader.....
