The Complete Dog Book for Kids
Official Publication of the American Kennel Club
The American Kennel Club knows how special the relationship is between kids and dogs and is celebrating it with The Complete Dog Book for Kids. There are big, beautiful full-color portraits of every AKC-recognized breed, from the elegant Afghan Hound to the sporty Weimaraner. Herding dogs, working dogs, sporting dogs, non-sporting, hound, terrier, and toy breeds are all here. You'll not only learn what they look like and where they originally came from but also what they do and other "fun facts." But this is more than just a breed book.
The Complete Dog Book for Kids tells you all about the sport of purebred dogs?the exciting world of dog shows, the Canine Good Citizen? program, and other team-building events, such as obedience, agility, hunting, and herding. There's useful information on choosing the right breed, basic training, and overall health care. The Complete Dog Book for Kids is designed to be as companionable as the four-legged friend who shares your home now or in the future.
The only AKC-approved reference for children is the ultimate reference for those who love dogs! The book has information about the history and character of the breeds, as well as graphics showing where each breed originated, how big it is, and boxes containing a "fun fact" about each dog. Kids will also learn what they can do for and with their dogs -- everything from cleaning ears and giving baths to competing in Junior Showmanship or Agility.
