Different approaches have emerged over the last decades to analyze multi-model stochastic processes. A particularly interesting one, and the main theme of this book, is the so-called piecewise deterministic Markov processes (PDMPs), introduced in Davis84 and Davis93 as a general family of non-diffusion stochastic models, suitable for formulating many optimization problems in queuing and inventory systems, maintenance-replacement models, and many other areas of engineering and operations research.
The intent of this book is to present recent results in the control theory for the long run average continuous control problem of piecewise deterministic Markov processes (PDMPs). The book focuses mainly on the long run average cost criteria and
