CUENTOS HISPANOS DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS is an anthology of short fiction by Hispanic authors of the United States writing in Spanish. The anthology includes works by authors born and raised in the United States -- Roberta Fernandez, Rolando Hinojosa, Angela McEwan Alvarado, Tomas Rivera, Rosaura Sanchez, Sabine R. Ulibarri, Lydia Velez-Roman, Alfredo Villanueva-Collado -- and stories by Hispanic writers who came to the United States as immigrants or as exiles -- Andres Berger, Juan Armando Epple, Roberto Fernandez, Luis Gonzalez-Cruz, Elias Miguel Munoz, Pablo La Rosa, Rima de Vallbona. The stories examine a wide variety of perspectives, lives and experiences, adding more patterns to the great mosaic of Hispanic culture of the United States. Julian Olivares is a professor of Spanish at the University of Houston.
