Synopsis
This book is all about money. Money is such an important part of our world, so it's hard to believe there was a time when there was no such thing and the first paper money only appeared in China about 1,000 years ago.
Currencies of the World takes you from the earliest times, when people traded food and tools with each other, through the advent of coins, the development of international trade, the world financial system and how it works to the modern day world. It explains the role of banks, including the World Bank, the stock market, all the way to credit cards and internet banking--it even has tips to help kids manage their own money.
Currencies of the World includes a Glossary and Exercises.
