Synopsis
"Simon sat listening to the rain. It pattered softly on the roof, dribbling down the spines of the thick sword-shaped leaves he and his parents had so carefully gathered . . ." So begins Simon's adventure in the Amazon rain forest, where he is vacationing and helping his botanist parents in their research. The deep darkness of night there is a little unnerving, but everything is basically going well, or so he thinks until the morning he awakes to find his parents vanished from the campsite. Suddenly he is alone in the rain forest. How will he communicate with the local people? What dangers lie in wait for him? And will he be able to rescue his parents from the evil gang that is holding them captive? Young readers will cheer on Simon as he summons all his bravery and ingenuity to try to rescue them and survive in a hostile jungle. Attack of the Jaguar is a combination of adventure story and mock training manual designed to test its heroes' - and the reader's - ability to survive extreme situations. Each chapter features a full-page illustration, quizzes, and puzzles.
