About the Author
Gary B. Shelly, together with co-author Tom J. Cashman, wrote and published his first computer education textbook in 1969. Since then, more than twenty million copies of Shelly Cashman textbooks have been sold. In recent years, Gary, Tom, and a talented group of contributing authors have produced leading textbooks on computer programming, computer concepts, and application software.Thomas J. Cashman received his education at California State University, Los Angeles. In 1960, he established one of the first business data processing programs in the United States at Long Beach City College in California, where he taught and served as department head from 1960 to 1966. In 1969, he began collaborating with now best-selling author, Gary Shelly. He has also taught summer institutes for teachers at the University of Central Oklahoma, Memphis State University, and Purdue University.H. Albert Napier is the professor of Management in the Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University, teaching entrepreneurship, e-business, and information technology courses. Authoring over 60 textbooks, he is the Director of the Center of Management of Information Technology, owns a computer consulting and training company, and serves on the Board of Directors of several companies.Philip J. Judd is a principal of NapierandJudd, Inc. His consulting activities include the analysis and design of automated business systems, planning for large-scale computer operations, the selection and implementation of office automation systems, the development of corporate modeling systems, and the design and implementation of personal computer network systems including Web site integration. Mr. Judd was previously an instructor in the Management Department and the Director of the Research and Instructional Computing Service at the University of Houston. He received his MBA and BBA degrees from the University of Houston.
