About the Author
Melody Owen is based in Portland (Oregon) at Boat House Studios. She is represented by Elizabeth Leach Gallery. Born in San Francisco, CA (1969) and raised in Oregon, she attended Magnet Arts Elementary School in Eugene. Animal lover, bicyclist and vegetarian since early childhood, Owen studied acting and wrote and directed two plays in high school. She lived in San Francisco, Berkeley, New York City, Szeged, and Olympia. She studied poetry, photography, fine and digital arts at University and worked at the US Post Office, Spoonbill and Sugartown bookstore in Brooklyn, and Craig Moerer record store in Portland. She participated in artist residencies in Iceland, Paris, Quebec, Switzerland, New York State, and Eastern Oregon. Her work has been exhibited in museums, galleries and film festivals around Portland, nationally, and internationally.
