Folio. Lacking the title page. Half title page is for "The Dunciad, in Three Books, Written in the Year 1727. With Notes Variorum, and the Prolegomena of Scriblerus."
With the "Letter to the Publisher" by Cleland, and the "Index of Persons Celebrated in the Poem."
Contains also Pope's "Essay on Man" with both the half and full title pages, dated 1734. "Satires of Dr John Donne Dean of St Paul's" and "Epitaphs by Mr Pope" also bound in.
Full period calf, neatly rebacked, with period title label to spine. Corners bumped, extremities worn, boards scuffed. Small ink stamp to top edge of front paste down, inscription in old hand to front free endpaper. Half title page with paper repair to fore edge, inscription in old hand, dated 1791, to verso. Leaf B of "An Essay on Man" with a 4" closed tear. Closed tear to tail of leaf K of Epistle III, affecting text. Occasional foxing. Good condition.
