Gilbert is an eloquent writer who manages to capture the art of stating brilliant things in a funny way. I was transported to other countries and able to experience their culture and wisdom through this book. Gilbert was like the best friend from whom I vicariously became a wiser and more rounded person. Although there are many, many great lines in the book, my favorite is early on: "I wanted to explore the art of pleasure in Italy, the art of devotion in India and, in Indonesia, the art of balancing the two. It was only later, after admitting this dream, that I noticed the happy coincidence that all these countries begin with the letter I. A fairly auspicious sign, it seemed, on a voyage of self-discovery."

Amazing story! I would love to be in her shoes and visit Italy, India, and Bali. This book shows how one woman can step out on her own to create herself through different cultures and people. An amazing experience!

This book was fantastic. It was recommended to me by a friend and spoke so close to home for me. I've read it several times. The wisdom it has helps us to live in the moment. A must read for everyone!

It's a couragous and blythe tale :) It's palatable for the masses, and it stirred me to re-ask myself important questions. Questions that were assumed to be in the mind of Ms Liz. After reading these "reviews" I now know that when I've jumped off the carousel of my life for an entire year, I'll surely want to share the experience with everyone, save the cynics!!!
