What a GREAT book! This is a true story of a plow horse that was loaded onto the truck that was headed to the slaughter house but went on to win the Championship in the jumper category at the national horse show.
He was purchased by a Dutch emigrant for his students to use at the private school where he was the riding teacher.
When school ended for the year, He sold Snowman to a Dr. who lived several miles away. Several days later, Snowman showed up back "home". Harry called the new owner, who came to get Snowman and take him back. A few weeks later, the horse was back!!! He had jumped fences with a weight tied to his leg!
Harry knew that Snowman was his horse and from then on, vowed he would keep him always.
The horse was a gentle "old" soul with a big heart. Snowy loved the children, was extremely patient and very smart. He was a horse with a dog's heart & mentality.
A great read. A true story. Funny. Moving.
