Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Easily one of the best books I've ever read. No one approaches the complex interwoven issues surrounding personal pleasure, relationships, technology, violence, and nihilism in such a way. Provocative and never gratuitous, the sex scenes are some of the best ever put to paper, and all speak to a radically new way of envisioning our individual lives and the pleasure we can provide others, even if it's just one person, and the global effect that could have. Well worth a read. Or two or three.
