"The Enchanted Castle" is the story of three young English children who upon discovering a castle pretend that it is enchanted. While in the castle's garden they discover a sleeping princess, who is actually Mabel, the housekeeper's niece. Mabel shows the children to the treasure room of the castle and an adventure of fantasy with a magic ring ensues. "The Enchanted Castle" is a classic tale of childhood fantasy to be enjoyed by readers of all ages.
A short avenue of cypresses led, widening as it went, to a marble terrace that lay broad and white in the sunlight. The children, blinking, leaned their arms on the broad, flat balustrade and gazed. Immediately below them was a lake just like a lake in "The Beauties of Italy" a lake with swans and an island and weeping willows.
