Synopsis
This volume brings important debates about race, religion, and identity to the foreground to address the challenges facing Muslim school children today. Chapters explore themes including multiethnic education, teacher diversity, and culturally responsive pedagogy through interviews and case studies to identify relevant reforms necessary and present further insights into educational improvements. Taking into account cultural touchstones such as the Black Lives Matter movement and the Trojan Horse affair, the book argues for an urgent, 'transformative accommodation' of Muslims in education to take place in order to improve the educational standards of Muslim children within the UK and further afield.
