"Eureka Mill" pulls 42 of Ron Rash's poems into a tight sequence that depicts life in a mill and mill village where workers struggle in vain not just with hard work but with memories of a previous life that, vainly they would like to think was better. Often tragic, but sometimes amusing, allusion and form bow to Rash's storytelling and his sensitive and full characterizations of people trying for dignity in a hard world.
