Synopses & Reviews
In almost all of the worldand#8217;s nations, improved life expectancy and decreasing birth rates have made people older than sixty the fastest-growing demographic group. Ageing in the Mediterranean fills a gap in the literature on our aging societies, providing a detailed portrait of the diverse factors responsible for shaping aging policies across the region. Analyzing rich data from countries including Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Portugal, Tunisia, and Turkey, this volumeand#8217;s global cast of contributors highlight the idiosyncratic ways in which these nations approach such issues as migration, caregiving, employment, health care, and many others. and#160;
Synopsis
Security experts from North Africa, Europe, and the US discuss the experience with confidence building measures in the CSCE/OSCE for the Mediterranean. They review the Northern debate and Southern perceptions of four security dialogues (OSCE, NATO, WEU, EU). Case studies on Bosnia-Hercegovina and Cyprus discuss CBMs for conflict resolution. The book offers proposals for conflict prevention, short- and long-term partnership building measures and a code of conduct and prospects for CBMs and PBMs in Euro-Mediterranean relations for the 21st century.
