Synopsis
Fanny Burney (1752-1840 was a novelist, playwright and diarist. She wrote four novels, eight plays, and twenty volumes of journals and letters. Burneys novels explore the lives of British aristocrats and satirize their shortcomings. Her work also looked at more important issues such as feminine politics. First published in 1778 this novel written in the form of letters portrays a feminine view of London society as seen through the eyes of its young heroine.
