Synopsis
The lives of two young English men run parallel paths as they venture over the English Channel to France. The distance between their travels spans fifty years and three generations of cultural differences.
During World War II a boy living in the English Midlands passes through juvenile adolescence to face a rapid transfer into manhood which was forced upon the young men destined to participate in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. In 1944 no-one could have foreseen the legacy that Ronald Johnson's life would have upon generations to come.
In 1995 another English young man completes his education at the University of Essex and embarks upon a quest for freedom away from a life spent in classrooms and lecture halls. James Bryant travels to the south of France with no plan other than to travel north through the French provinces in a effort to find himself, before he has to settle down to pursue a career. His path has a spontaneity that develops into an unpredictable inevitability.
All of the characters in this novel are fictional, they participate in a passionate and romantic story which is recommended for mature readers only.
