He is executive director of the Gentle Path program at Pine Grove Behavioral Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Stefanie Carnes, PhD, is the editor and co-author of Mending a Shattered Heart: A Guide for Partners of Sex Addicts. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist.
John Bailey, MD, is board certified in addiction medicine, pain medicine, and anesthesiology, and is certified by the American Society in Clinical Pathology in advanced psychopharmacology. He is on the faculty at the University of Florida.

About the Author
Patrick Carnes: Patrick J. Carnes, Ph.D., is a nationally known speaker on addiction and recovery issues. He founded New Freedom Corporation, which includes Gentle Path Press and the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). He is currently executive director of the Gentle Path program at Pine Grove Behavioral Center in Hattisburg, Miss. He is author of

Stefanie Carnes: Stefani Carnes, Ph.D., has led numerous research projects on addiction and authored many publications including her nationally renowned book, Mending a Shattered Heart: A Guide for Partners of Sex Addicts. Dr. Carnes is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, an AAMFT clinical member and approved supervisor. She is also certified through IITAP (International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals) as a sex addiction therapist and supervisor.
John Bailey: John Bailey, M.D., is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine, Pain Medicine, and Anesthesiology, and ASCP Certified in Advanced Psychopharmacology. He is the former medical director of The Refuge and currently on the faculty at the University of Florida in the division of Addiction Medicine where he is the Medical Director of the Springhill Health Center and the Program Director of addiction-pain medicine. He has authored numerous papers on papers on addiction medicine and teaches medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Bailey currently serves on the Governor's Task Force on Drug Overdose, and the ASA Task force on Chemical dependency and has presented lectures at National Conferences on Neuroscience, Addiction, PTSD, Pain Management, and ADHD.
