“Fallen” written by Lauren Kate is about a young girl named Luce, who has bigger problems then deciding on what to wear on her first day of school. Unfortunately, her first day of school happens to be at the Sword & Cross, a reform school, where everything is bleak and depressing. That is, everything except Daniel, who Luce is immediately drawn to by some force bigger then attraction. Daniel…who makes it painfully obvious that he has no interest in Luce whatsoever. Unable to accept Daniel’s disinterest, Luce becomes emerged in her desire to find out more about this mysterious boy and awakens more details then she ever bargained for.
Lauren Kate brings something new and dangerously exciting to the table. “Fallen” is a gripping page turner that will engulf you before you can finish the first chapter. Lauren Kate has opened up a unique world that will quickly enrapture readers.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys YA fiction, especially so if you enjoy paranormal reads. “Fallen” is a thriller with a forbidden romance. It’s dangerous, dark and gothic.
Laruen Kate has introduced something just as interesting as Vampires and Werewolves, something that quite possibly will rival their popularity. “Fallen” is a tantalizing, addictive book that you will want to pick up. I was so caught up in the storyline that I read this one in a day. Lauren Kate’s writing is solid and I venture a guess that this is only the beginning of a very long and successful writing career. I’m looking forward to following along and delving into each work that she presents. Next up, “Torment”. I’m anxious to crack this open and let it captivate me completely.
