It tells of an uncle and his niece and nephews who set out to circle the globe in a very unorthodox flying vehicle. In the course of the trip, they stop off in various countries to investigate the animals and wildlife native to those places. Meanwhile they have all kinds of adventures.'
The author is a leading naturalist, and this book reminded of Holling C. Holling's books,in the way that geography and science are woven into juvenile fiction, ( although I don't think the illustrations compare to Holling's). Good for 2nd-5th graders.
