I enjoyed reading this veterans story of a very personal D-Day experience complete with battle field recollections, play by play descriptions of the action and some personal feelings that he experienced during this very challenging encounter. It really brings home the fact that the true story of our D-Day success is really the compound result of thousands of "personal battles" and how important each G.I.'s contribution was to winning the war against Germany. War may be the biggest "team sport" or event invented by man but each player can be the difference maker in the outcome of any battle when they perform above what would normally be expected of them and especially when they motivate others to exceed expectations. Every G.I. that hit the beach was a "hero" even if they were unlucky to die before they even hit dry sand. I recommend this book very highly as it is more than the typical "war story."
