Synopses & Reviews
This pocket-sized prayer book is designed for individual or corporate prayer. The volume offers one week of the prayer offices of Morning Prayer, Noon Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline, with Scripture and Psalms chosen especially for those who mourn. Meditations by authors ranging from Augustine of Hippo to Emily Dickinson have been added to the ancient framework of the Daily Office. The Daily Offices offer a holy connection to an unbroken chain of Christians-and provide us with a deeper nourishment that we cannot devise alone.
On October 4, 1990, Lisa Hamilton's husband, Scott, was diagnosed with a cancer that killed him eight months later, at age 32. Finding prayer to be the greatest teacher in the midst of her rage, depression, loneliness, and overwhelming grief, Rev. Hamilton has designed a prayer book for those who mourn.
