Praise for Jesse Moynihan's Forming:
"One of the most hilarious and amazing bookshelf features I've ever had the pleasure of reading."and#151;It's Nice That
Civilization, but not quite as we know it, has started to take shape. And now, in the continuing chaos, the world and most of its inhabitants have brandished their swords and, in various fashions, have charged onto the battlefield.
If Forming hailed the birth of civilization and mapped out the genesis of life, mass, time, and space, then Forming II is the raging war that ensues in the Universe's years of adolescence.
Epic confrontations between gods and mutants, philosophical reflections, hilarious dialogue, and powerful artwork make for an impressive sequel of galactic proportions. Forming II is as funny, sophisticated, and mind-blowingly beautiful as the first part of Jesse Moynihan's unique trilogy.
Jesse Moynihan is a long-time native of West Philadelphia's music/art scene. His previous comics include the Xeric Award-winning comic The Backwards Folding Mirror and Follow Me. He is currently part of the creative team behind cult Cartoon Network show Adventure Time, where he creates storyboards and assists with character design.
"These books are a big crazy Jodorowsky-style reinterpretation of Bible tales and mythology mixed in with lots of funny swearing and pretty colors. Jesse Moynihan is well known for making the more cerebral and weird Adventure Time stories. If you saw that and thought "I need more" then here is that "more" you wanted." -Vice
""At times funny, violent, thought-provoking, juvenile (in a good way), and genius [and#133;] Moynihan has a firm and defined aesthetic that is singular and fantastic.and#8221; - Nothing But Comics
"Moynihan's talent as a visual storyteller is more apparent here than even in the first installment--whereas Forming Vol. 1 employed a nine-panel grid on nearly every page, Vol. 2 breaks this structure with widescreen panels, full-page splash scenes, and fractured, some even panel-less, angled sequences that transition between moments in such innovative and inventive ways that Moynihan replicates the movement and momentum of an animated cartoon on the static page. " - ICv2
"One of the most hilarious and amazing bookshelf features Iand#8217;ve ever had the pleasure of readingand#133;" - It's Nice That
"Forming is a success on so many different levels. First of all, itand#8217;s simply a beautiful art object filled with page after page of brightly colored and bizarre images." - Rob Clough, The Comics Journal
"Forming, a super strange graphic novel published by the super strange English publishing house NOBROW and written by possible genius Jesse Moynihan." - Scott Beauchamp Full Stop blog
"Forming takes all the creation myths of the world and mashes them up into one epic adventure full of ludicrously over-the-top fight scenes and a crass, modern sense of humor...Itand#8217;s a hodgepodge of philosophy, fight scenes and stupid jokes and it is unlike anything youand#8217;ve ever read before.
[and#133;] Like everything that Nobrow publishes, Forming II is a beautifully designed book, oversized and a joy to flip through." - Rich Barret, Mental Floss
"Suffice to say, Forming II is excellent" - Robert Boyd, The Great God Pan Is Dead
The hotly-anticipated sequel that encompasses all; mythology, theology, super-alien gods, hermaphrodites and the simple task of creating the cosmos.
