Freels Comes Alive!
marks the return of one of America's small press enigmas, Brandon Freels. His writing -- abstract, painfully self-conscious, alarmingly funny, and ambitious in form -- seems to inhabit a planet where things continually morph and change unannounced. Aloof parents, magnificent creatures, innocent women, and parasitic stuntmen are regular inhabitants here, as rules dissolve in the mouth of the imagination.
Contemplating the acid dreams of a magical robot might bring you somewhat closer to Freels' mind. This young author, although rarely seen in public, is an emerging beacon in today's surrealist constellation.
About the Author
BRANDON FREELS was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1976 and has, unfortunately, lived there ever since. Once upon a time, before his sabbatical, he was published in a number of different publications, such as American Writing, Bizarra, Blank Gun Silencer, Caffeine, Drop Forge, Flipside, Lies, Pink Pages, Ploplop, Pumpkinhead, Public Illuminations, and Shit Diary. He also authored a collection of short fictions, Who the Hell is Brandon Freels? (Future Tense, 1996). He is currently searching for individuals to communicate and/or collaborate with who are interested in the Surrealist movement as it exists today, especially those living in the Pacific Northwest.
