Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

This book is trash, only good for location names. The instructions and directions to visit collecting sites are terrible, some sites are misnamed in the book and most of the sites are either closed, devoid of minerals or completely inaccessible. The "updated 1998" version is STILL outdated. In the book it says US Creek on the Calapooya River is vehicle accessible via a USFS road...the bridge over the river was washed out in 1994. There is NO vehicular access to that creek now and there are trees growing in the middle of the road. I've BEEN THERE. Just one example. Have a look at Tim Fisher's site at http://www.orerockon.com/ dont%20buy%20Gem%20Trails.htm for more details on what's wrong with this book.
