A real treasure from a vanished world of leisure and luxury. Sure, the author was a spoiled rich kid who apparently had nothing better to do than travel the world and collect recipes, but hey, he drank with Hemingway. If you are easily offended by material that is not entirely politically correct, these books are not for you, but they are a must for anyone who admits to even slightly snobbish tendencies. Curious about the mysteries of mint juleps? Want to know how they made Ramos fizzes before blenders were invented? Need an elegant and exotic recipe for shrimp for your next dinner party? Great food and drink recipes, and entertaining reading. Subtitles are The Exotic Drink Book and The Exotic Cookery Book, and they deliver on both counts.
