Synopses & Reviews
"More than ever, this generation of kids needs a book like this, one that will provide them with spiritual guidance at a young age and help them establish their own relationship with a loving, caring God."
Justine Simmons is a costar in the hit MTV show Runs House and the wife of Joseph Simmons, an ordained minister and one of the founding pioneers of the classic rap group Run DMC.
With inspirational dialogue complemented by warm, luminous paintings, Justine Simmons offers a window into the hearts of todays children in a beautiful keepsake volume that families will treasure from one generation to the next.
"Simmons, wife of Reverend Run (a founder of musical group Run DMC) and costar of the Simmons family's reality series on MTV, Run's House, has penned a Q&A-style picture book to offer children a loose template for dealing with issues about which they might pray or talk to God. On alternating pages, a child voices a concern and Simmons serves up a reassuring, if sometimes-pat-sounding, answer, as if it were coming from God. A sample exchange reads: 'Mommy and Daddy argue all the time. Do they still love each other?/ God, can you hear me?/ Mommy and Daddy may argue, but they still love each other. And they love you, too.' Papp's crisply realistic oil paintings many of them look like artistically manipulated photographs feature a multicultural cast of kids and families in a variety of backdrops from beach to playground to city streets. This wide-ranging volume has potential as a starting point for family sharing as well as inspiration for young readers who may be looking for guidance or for ways to begin a spiritual dialogue. Ages 4-9." Publishers Weekly (Copyright Reed Business Information, Inc.)
The co-star of MTV's Run's House evaluates the positive role of prayer in a child's life, drawing on twelve areas of concern typically shared by today's young people to counsel parents on how to encourage children to turn to God for help with their problems. 60,000 first printing.
This powerful picture book features a diverse cast of children, with a window into their very hearts and spiritual concerns. Through the words and pictures of this book, children everywhere will find that they are not alone in their concerns or in bringing them to God. Full color.
