"Yee-haw! Saddle up for a rootin' tootin' introduction to denizens of the Mesozoic Ranch, courtesy of cowboy Buck Bronco. . . . The brightly colored critters (many identified by the genial narrator or labeled in the art) romp across the pages of McClements' cartoon-style illustrations before finding suitable spots to bed down for the night. Dinophiles and young horse lovers alike will want to book repeat rides."

"Bright, goofy mixed-media collage illustrations demonstrate the cowboy's instructions and will have dinosaur fans chuckling. Bits of information are scattered throughout, but the book is mainly a fun tall tale. The oversize pictures make it a good choice for storytimes; on the other hand, the details are best appreciated one-on-one."

"Saddle up, itand#8217;s Dino Rodeo time.andnbsp;. . .andnbsp;Mixed-media collage playfully pairs well with the inventive story line and reins in the humor. Buck himself looks like Woody from Toy Story, full of vim, vigor and enthusiastic advice. Dinos and rodeos saddle up perfectly and fans of both will kick back and grin."

"The rhyming text is image-rich, informational, and fun to read aloud. . . . Cyrus's oversize artwork conveys information spectacularly, beginning with a dramatic wrap-around cover and continuing with interesting perspectives of dinosaurs and the prehistoric environment. Created in scratchboard and then colored digitally, the illustrations are luminous and striking. . . . This is an exciting blend of science and literature that children will appreciate."

"The swampy greens and hard edges of the digitally colored scratchboard artwork suit the prehistoric period and rough scales of the dinosaurs perfectly, while the varying scale of the illustrations will keep readers on their toesand#8212;Cyrus is a master of the extreme close-up. Readers will thrill to the action and suspense while teachers will appreciate the subtle lesson on the life cycle of frogs."-- Kirkus Reviews, starred review, May 1, 2008
