Apparently the book has two parts. The first three chapters seem to provide a magnificent summary of various current thinking about the nature of life, mind and world consciousness, and an adverse social reality as an emergent property of social organization which is seen as a complex adaptive system. It's a very good book but it is not easy to read, though. The last four chapters - and epilogue - can be read separately, although the reader will soon realize they are hooked on theories in the first part of the book. They form a wide-ranging review of nowadays' governance of organizations and growing globalization, with what amounts to a very detailed case study of how these structures seem to produce the fundamentally dishonest and very dangerous commercial drive to genetically modified foods. The final chapter offers broad guidelines for reshaping the current political and economic scaffold to bring economic incentives into good terms with the needs of today's society and the world as a whole.
