Synopsis
In Perkins' second maritime mystery, Bartholomew Hoare, the Royal Navy's investigator, again comes up against Bonaparte's secret service, and confronts certain deluded high-placed Englishmen in its employ. Hoare, still seeking the hand of Jane Austen's friend Eleanor Graves, commands the oddest collection of unseaworthy sailors in the Royal Navy to help him find the killers of two murdered Naval officers.
