About the Author
Michael Jay Geier worked as a technician in the consumer and industrial audio/video field for more than 25 years, and also as a circuit designer and programmer. In his technician days, he troubleshot the “tough dogs,” fixing the difficult cases that baffled the other techs in the shops for which he worked. Hundreds of his magazine articles have appeared in publications such as IEEE Spectrum, Electronic Engineering Times, Desktop Engineering, 73, Amateur Radio Today and The Envisioneering Newsletter. His Ask Kaboom column in 73 began as a write-in repair columnthe “Dear Abby” of electronicsand evolved into a general discussion of various repair topics.
