Synopses & Reviews
Bring out the best in your skin! Dr. Barney Kenet, the dermatologist of choice for Academy Award-winning actresses, television anchors and society doyennes, now brings his easy and effective methods for healthy and beautiful skin to you.
In How to Wash Your Face, Dr. Kenet provides readers with the last word on great looking skin at any age -- including the basics you thought you knew, like the proper way to wash your face. In a dramatic departure from other approaches, he emphasizes smart skin maintenance instead of drastic, expensive techniques such as plastic surgery. His sensible and medically proven skin care system will help you to improve and enhance your looks and achieve long-lasting results.
Dry? Oily? Combination? Dr. Kenet debunks conventional skin typing and helps consumers understand the "why" of their skin. He introduces five entirely new skin type categories: Hormonally Reactive, Stress-Reactive, Environmentally Sensitive, Overexposed and Hearty. These new skin profiles were designed to help you work with your skin, instead of against it, to make it radiant, youthful and gorgeous. Once you recognize your unique profile, you will never think about your skin in the same way again.
In How to Wash Your Face you will learn:
- The three most effective treatments for aging skin
- Who should never get a facial and why
- The hidden dangers of makeup
- How to protect your skin from the sun
- The most common causes of itchy skin and how to alleviate them
- How foods and fragrances can trigger allergies that cause your skin to become upset and how to avoid these allergies
- How to give yourself a home manicure and other nail care tips
- The best remedies for oily hair, dandruff and other hair problems
- The only three types of medical specialists who should be caring for your skin
Dr. Kenet tells you everything you need to know when you visit the drugstore, the makeup counter, the beauty salon and the doctor's office. Each step of the way you will be given accurate, authoritative and up-to-date information about the safety and effectiveness of hundreds of beauty and treatment products. Dr. Kenet's information will not only turn you into a smart consumer -- it is guaranteed to make people notice a change for the better in your skin.
With questionnaires, brand-name product evaluations and patients' intimate and inspiring stories, How to Wash Your Face is a radical and timely antidote to high-priced miracle creams and plastic-surgery hype. Here is a highly individualized and comprehensive guide to healthy skin, a healthy mind and a healthy body. How to Wash Your Face is an office visit in a book and so much more.
