About the Author
Tamora Pierce was born in western Pennsylvania in 1954, has lived in various states across America, and currently resides in Manhattan. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, she studied social work, film, and psychology. She has been a martial arts movie reviewer, housemother in a group home, a literary agent's assistant, head writer for a radio production company, and an investment banking secretary. She began writing stories when she was eleven. She is married to writer/filmmaker Tim Liebe. They are owned by two cats (the Lioness, better known as Scrap, and Vinnie) and by Zorak, an attitudinal parakeet.
